I'm looking forward to my birthday when I hope my wife will get me the kit guitar I told her about. I'm still trying to decide between a PRS clone or another Les Paul clone. Either one will most likely come from the BYOGuitar website. If anyone knows of a similiar site, please let me know.

I've built a handful of guitars for me and my son (check out profile pics), but couldn't have done it without the guidance and wisdom of Harry and Tim at Atomic Guitar Works. They've done a lot of work on my other guitars and I'd highly recommend them if you are local to the Phoenix area. Great guys and great guitars!

I just played the guitar I made out of sheet tin for the first time, visually it turned out great, I did some engine turning on the front, did some reinforcing of the body, it is holding the string tension without a problem which was something I was concerned about the whole time and it has a jazzy sound to it, it is actually pretty nice, I am happy with it, just built a case for it, neither the guitar or the case are overly heavy (guitar is similar to a les paul) but I am planning on installing a small amp with 2 little speakers into the case soon so I will be putting wheels on the case and painting it soon, once that is done I will get some pictures of the guitar and case and post them
Bob-o I just used some body tin for the front and sides then a thicker metal for the back to give it more strength where the neck attatches, I believe it was 1/16" steel, I did most of the cutting with a plasma cutter except for the sides where I was able to use a sheer, some of the bends for the sides I could use the break, other than that a bunch were done by hand and I just ended up JB welding the guitar because I tested many other types of wels and it discoloured the engine turning I did on the front, I would immagine that you have the skill it takes to build a guitar out of metal in a short period of time, it only took me 2 months working 1 hour a day in class (2 hours per day towards the end). and this was my first metal working project so it shouldn't be too much fo a challenge for you plus it gives an interesting sound and unique look

Mason it sounds like you either need heavier strings so they don't set too low in the slots or else you need to raise the bridge
