I have always played everything with three fingers and sometimes my thumb. I have decided that Fender medium tortoise shell looking picks aren't going to work at all. I tore them in two in a couple of days. I have some other picks that I like from Dava? They have traction for my fingers which is something I have decided I like in a pick and they seem to be more durable for use on a bass.they are pretty flexible. I don't like the feel of a really stiff pick. They were some freebies I got when I bought something so I probably won't be able to find any more of them.

Anyway, it's fun playing a few songs with a pick. It gives my right hand a bit of a break from finger-plucking and it fits the phrasing and feel of someof the songs that I play better. It also gives the bass a more aggressive tone,

I've always found that when I play the harder songs on bass with a pick they do sound better and I can play faster, but for the bluesey and country stuff I always use the three finger method.
