My band specializes in playing outdoor shows, festivals, etc. With the humidity lately, and my generaly sweaty hands, I've run into a problem I really hadn't noticed much in the past. My left palm sticking to the back of the guitar neck, screwing up chord changes and leads.

I thought about a little talcum powder in my hand, like when you're playing pool, but I'm concerned about it getting gummy and turning a minor issue into a major disaster - besides all the extra detail work cleaning my guitars. I've been keeping a microfiber cloth handy and wiping it down. I've also tried putting a little of the finger ease that I occasionally use on the strings on the back of the neck but it didn't do a whole lot.

Anyone have any suggestions on how best to deal with this issue?

perhaps a bar-towel stuffed in a pocket so you can dry your hand?

(just a thought)

A bar towel would probably be more absorbant than the microfiber cloth I use for polishing the guitars and keeping the strings clean. Thanks, I'll try it this weekend.

Brought my bar towel but it turned out to be a comfortable temp, no issues. Next Saturday we've got a festival show and go on a bit earlier so I might have a need for it.

I've always found dryer is better. I use a little talc on my left hand when outdoors in the sun, but when inside I make sure to use one of those crystal anti-persperant tubes that contain Alum, and keep a stiff fan aimed at my fingers. As long as they're dry, my fingers can fly..
