Hi, guys! I've been playing my guitar years ago, although I'm a kind of a late bloomer. I'm interested in the acoustic stuff, and such sound urged me to get interested more in music.
Not trying to "outnumber" you Q, it's just that for most amature musicians we really don't want to put the time in to learn that much Theory. I'm a hack, I've always been a hack and I'll always be a hack. I enjoy playing guitar but it's a hobbie, no…
After reading my initial post, I realize I did a bad job of explaining myself.
I knock my knowledge and skill level a lot because I tend to be very hard on myself. In reality, I have a decent understanding of basic music theory.
I was talking more…
Myself well i dont understand theory either, im really just happy just learning my nxt song with the chords
i know i can play and in time ill learn other chords though slightly more difficult
as for theory i dont really care for such
And yes ive he…
L.I.B., Mr Ducks,LOL. Yep, I guess I do know some Theory but it's the "fancy" stuff that I just don't get. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I just can't wrap my head around it. I'm more of a "hands on" kind of guy,LOL.
It's like I know how…
See, you do know theory!
" I probably know more Theory than I think I know." RIGHT Darrell!
And if people are talking and you aren't understanding them, well, maybe they aren't very good communicators.
As you know, when you read tab, "All they reall…
Didn't really know if there was an E Sharp or not,LOL. Yep, I guess it would be F and not E sharp. As to an A and an Am I know the chord but I can't tell ya' why one is a minor chord and the other a major. I probably know more Theory then I think I…
Tab, whether you know it or not is music theory.
Understanding the difference between an A chord and an A minor chord is music theory.
Music theory is the field of study that deals with how music works. It examines the language and notation of music…
I can play more then just "cowboy chords" but I don't read music and I don't know or really care why something sounds good as long as it does. 99% of the time when someone starts talking Theory it all goes over my head, they may as well be talking G…
You reach a point where you have to know a bit of it to progress beyond the cowboy chords.
Learning it actually saves some time in the long-run.
Theory is not IMHO for people who simply want to talk about music.
In order to sit down and read standar…
You'd be supprised at how many really great musicians never knew any theory. For me theory is for people that want to talk about music, playing is for people that want to make music. I let my fingers and guitar do my "talking". LOL.
Hey, thanks, Ed. as it turns out you got the first one mailed out. It included an out-take that I thought was on the cutting room floor of Studio Q; th second tune: The Nearness of You. I noticed it and replaced it with the proper version before it got to Sally or my granddaughter. C'est la vie. No biggie.
Next time I will record these as .wavs instead of .MP3s and I think I'll gain improved clarity in the recordings.
So now that we're here (on myguitarspace.com) what are you doing with it? I have started a blog.
